Situation

  • The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) is an independent statutory agency. Its role is to implement the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which will support a better life for Australians with a significant and permanent disability and their families and carers.
  • Critical period in the NDIA’s development as it prepared to move from the initial pilot implementation to a full service, nation-wide agency
  • Intense period of review with several formal, well-publicised investigations reporting on the NDIA’s performance and ability to meet projected timelines for full scheme operation
  • Core IT systems identified as not capable of supporting full scheme, and major IT procurement and implementation program planned
  • Known gaps in ability of agency to make and keep current standard operating procedures
  • Known gaps in ability of agency to respond quickly and accurately to need to produce system requirements
