BPTrends Courses Earn Credit Towards Master of BPM Degree
The Queensland University of Technology (QUT) has approved the BPTrends Business Process Management Professional Certificate Program as an entry point into it’s Master of Business Process Management and/or Graduate Certificate in Business Process Management degrees. The QUT Master of BPM is one of only a few such degrees worldwide.

Participants who complete the BPTrends BPM Professional Certificate program, and pass a related examination, will be entitled to 12 credit points, the equivalent of one QUT course. The QUT Graduate Certificate in BPM is a 4-course program and the Masters in BPM requires completion of 12 courses. Prospective students may claim no more than an aggregate 50% credit for a QUT program.

The BPTrends BPM Professional Certificate program includes three courses: Principles of Business Process Management (BPTA101), Introduction to Business Process Modelling, Analysis & Design (BPTA102) and Information Gathering and Facilitation for Business Processes (BPTA103).

Leonardo Consulting delivers the BPTrends training curriculum in Australia and New Zealand. We are pleased to combine with BPTrends and QUT to deliver this additional benefit to the Australian and New Zealand BPM community.

Information about the QUT courses can be found at the QUT link below or by contacting Dr Taizan Chan, the coordinator of the MBPM degree, at t.chan@qut.edu.au.

Paul Harmon is coming to Australia & New Zealand
Paul Harmon is coming to Australia in August 2008. He will be working with the Leonardo team to deliver a range of public and private seminars and other events.

Paul’s time in Australia and New Zealand will be limited. It is still possible to arrange for a presentation, workshop, executive briefing or other internal event tailor-made for your practitioner, academic or vendor organisation.

Paul Harmon is a principal of BPTrends Associates and the executive editor and co-founder of Business Process Trends. He writes the BPTrends monthly Newsletter, email Advisors and other special features on www.bptrends.com. Paul is a highly regarded BPM analyst with valuable insights into current issues, trends and directions in Business Process Management and related areas.

His recently published book, Business Process Change, Second Edition: A Guide for Business Managers and BPM and Six Sigma Professionals, is a complete overhaul of the first edition. It is virtually a new book setting a new standard in clear and practical thinking about process improvement and management.

August 2008 might seem like a long way away but Paul’s time in Australia will be greatly in demand. If you have any interest in having Paul Harmon work directly with your organisation act now to get your possible requirement pencilled in to Paul’s visit program.

To discuss the possibilities, please contact Roger Tregear at r.tregear@leonardo.com.au or on 0419 220 280.

BPMN Modelling – Who, Where, How and Why
During May to August 2007 Jan Recker of QUT conducted a global survey of BPMN process modellers. Five hundred and ninety BPMN modellers responded and provided insights into the who, where, how and why of BPMN process modelling, as well as into some of the problems users experience when modelling with BPMN. Jan’s paper presenting the outcomes of this survey is now available. As many of you participated in this survey, Jan is pleased to make a download of the paper available here.
