The improvement and ongoing management of business processes is vitally important. However, if it is done in isolation and outside of the context of the strategic intent of the organisation, it cannot be anything like as successful as it should be. To be really effective at a whole-of-enterprise level, BPM needs to start at the strategic centre of the business and cascade out through the organisation’s many levels.
